Privacy Policy for IELTS Vocabulary Coach

Data we collect

We collect only the information needed to provide the app's learning, account, and optional AI feedback features:

• Account information, such as email address, authentication user ID, display name when provided by a sign-in provider, and sign-in provider metadata.
• Learning profile information, such as explanation language, target IELTS band, exam date, daily goal, current level, and focus skills.
• Learning activity, such as vocabulary progress, review schedule, quiz results, mistakes, readiness score inputs, streaks, and daily study statistics.
• User content submitted to optional AI features, such as typed sentences for Check My Sentence or Upgrade My Sentence, and the feedback generated for those requests.
• Basic technical data processed by our service providers to operate, secure, authenticate, and deliver the app.
• If you opt in to usage analytics, Firebase Analytics processes app interactions, an app-instance or vendor identifier, approximate region inferred from network information, device and operating system information, app version, and limited SDK delivery diagnostics. We do not send your typed sentences, vocabulary, email address, or advertising identifier to Analytics.
• If optional Pro subscriptions are enabled, RevenueCat processes an app-specific account identifier together with subscription product, status, and transaction information. Payment-card and bank details remain with Apple or Google and are not provided to us.

How we use data

We use this data to:

• Create and protect user accounts.
• Sync vocabulary progress across sessions and devices.
• Personalize the learning experience and explanation language.
• Generate quizzes, spaced repetition reviews, and readiness scores.
• Provide optional sentence feedback and sentence upgrades.
• Prevent abuse, enforce feature limits, debug issues, and improve reliability.
• When you opt in, understand which features are useful, measure app reliability, and decide where to improve the learning experience.

Service providers

IELTS Vocabulary Coach uses third-party service providers only to run app functionality:

• Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Cloud Functions, provided by Google/Firebase, for account sign-in, database storage, server-side feature logic, and security rules.
• Firebase Analytics, provided by Google/Firebase, only after the user enables the optional Share usage analytics setting. Analytics collection is disabled by default and can be turned off again in Profile & settings.
• RevenueCat, when optional Pro subscriptions are enabled, to verify App Store or Google Play purchases, restore access, and synchronize subscription status. RevenueCat does not process the typed content submitted to the learning or AI-feedback tools.
• Google Sign-In and Apple Sign in, when a user chooses those sign-in options.
• DeepSeek, only for optional AI sentence feedback features. Requests are sent from server-side Firebase Functions, not directly from the mobile app. Users can use the core vocabulary, review, and quiz flows without AI.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share data with advertising networks. We do not use user data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Ads, payments, and permissions

• The app does not contain a third-party advertising SDK.
• The app does not show third-party ads in the initial release.
• Optional Pro subscriptions, when available, are processed only by Apple App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat verifies entitlement status; we do not receive payment-card or bank details.
• The app does not request microphone, voice recording, or location permissions.
• Optional analytics does not link the iOS AdSupport framework, does not access IDFA, and does not require App Tracking Transparency.
• The app does not collect health, fitness, or financial information.

Security

We use Firebase Authentication, Firebase security rules, server-side validation, and encrypted network transport to help protect user data. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we work to limit data collection to what is necessary for app features.

Data retention and deletion

Account and learning data are retained while the user account remains active. Users can request deletion inside the app from Profile and can also use the public deletion instructions on this site. When an account deletion request is completed, we delete the Firebase Authentication account and associated app data stored for that user, unless limited retention is required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

Children

IELTS Vocabulary Coach is intended for IELTS learners and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review and delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The latest version will always be available on this page with an updated effective date.
